March 19~ 1968 <br /> <br />At a called meeting of the City Council, held on March 19, 1968, there were present: <br /> <br /> R. Irvine Smith., Jack P. Barnes, George D. Eastes, Burrell R.. Johnson, Isaac KinKing, <br /> A. P. Johnson, Jr., City Manager, bi. A. Kerb, Jr., City Attorney, and R. D. 0ttavio, <br /> City Auditor. <br /> <br />The meeting was opened with prayer by Mr. King. <br /> <br />The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "You are requested to attend a called meeting of the City Council, in the Council Chamber at <br />7:00 P.M., on March igth, ~o approve the awarding of a contract for an addition to Churchland <br />Elementary School, and to place an ordinance on first reading appropriating necessa~, funds. By Order <br />of the President." <br /> <br />68-96 - The following letter from the Superintendent of Schools was read: <br /> <br /> "The Portsmouth School Board adopted a resolution on March 14, 1968 requesting an appropriation <br />of $310,350.00 to defray the cost of construction of the addition to the Churchlsand Elementary School. <br />This amount will cover the following items: <br /> <br />vote: <br /> <br /> BaserBid $267,350.00 <br /> Architect's Fees 16,500.00 <br /> Equipment 26,500.00" <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Barnes, the following ordinance was approved on first reading, without dissenting <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE '$510,350.00 FROM THE GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FORTHE <br />CONSTRUCTION OF AN ADDITDON TO THE CHURCHL~MD EL~ENTARY SCHOOL? <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROI~D - <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
