This apprppriates <br />$55,796.00 for the installation of fire and smoke detection equipment for seven of the public schools to <br />meet mandato~/ fire regulations. The schools aregas follows: <br /> <br />Churchland High School <br />Churchland Jr. High School <br />Churchland Elementary School <br />Harry A. Hunt Jr. High School <br />I. C. Norcum Migh School <br />Green Street Elementary School <br />James t{urst Elementary School <br /> <br /> The School Board adopted a resolution at its September meeting requesting City Council to appropriate <br />these funds for the installation of thisequipment.' " <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Smith, the following ordinance was approved on firstreading, without dissenting vote: <br /> <br />";&~ ORDINkNCE TO APPROPRIATE $35,796.00 FROM TP~ GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROV~NT FUND FOR THE PURCHASE <br />OF FIRE DETECT~ON EQUIPMENT FOR SCHOOLS." <br /> <br /> 68-304 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be place on first reading. This appropriates <br />$212~445.00 for the purchase of portable classrooms. <br /> <br /> It was estimated in the Capital Improvement Budget that the school system would need $164,445.00 <br />for portable classrooms for the 1968-69 school year. }~wever, since the opening of the new school term there <br />was an increase .in the enrollment that had not been previously anticipated, which requires the purchase of <br />additional portable classrooms at a cost of $48,000.00. <br /> <br /> Five of these portable units will be placed at Jmmes Hurst Hlementary, three at Mapp Jr. High Shhool and <br />five at Churchland Jr. High School." <br /> <br /> <br />
