<br />At a regular meeting of the City Council, held on October 1, 1968, there were present:

<br />The meeting was opened with prayer b, y Mr. King.
<br />
<br />Minutes of the regular meeting held on September 1¢, 1968 were read and approved.

<br /> }{F~REAS, by petition submitted in accordance wit~ law certain abutting landowners have petitioned the
<br />City of Portsmouth to construct a sidewalk along the east side of the 1000 bleck of City Park Avenue between
<br />Portsmouth Boulevard and Dunedin Road, where standard sidewalks do not now exist, the cost thereof to be
<br />assessed and apportioned between the City and the shutting landowners; and
<br />
<br /> [~HEREAS, notice has been duly given to the abutting landowners, as provided by law, that a hearing
<br />would be held before the Council of the City of Portsmouth on October 1, 1968, at 7:50 P~ M. in the
<br />Council Chambers; and
<br />
<br /> ~qEREAS, said hearing was duly held and in tko judgment of the Council the said sidewalk should be
<br />Constructed.
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the COuncil of the City of Portsmouth:
<br />
<br />Section 1: That the construction of a sidewalk along the east side of the 1000 block of City Park
<br />Avenue between Portsmouth Boulevard and Dunedin goad, where standard sidewalks do not now exist, is
<br />hereby authorized.
<br />
<br />Section 2: That the cost of constructing said sidewalk, when the same shall have been ascertained
<br />shall be apportioned by the City Assessor between the City ~ Portsmouth and therabutting landowners,
<br />and assessed against said abutting landor, a/ers, as provided by law.
<br />
<br />Section 5: Thatthe City Clerk shall forthwith cause to be recorded an abstract of this resolution,
<br />together with a statement showing the ownership and location of the property to be affected by the
<br />proposed sidewalk and the estimated amount that will be assessed against each abutting landowner in
<br />accordance with the statement therof on file in her office."

<br />On motion of Mr. Johnson, the following resolution was adopted, without dissenting vote. [See above}

<br />On Motion of Mr. Eastes, the petition was disapproved, without dissenting vote.

<br />Petition Z 68-24 - Kittrell and South by Carl E. Bowers, Agefit.
<br />
<br />Request was made that action be deferred on this petition to the regular meeting on)Octose. 22nd.
<br />Motion of Mr. Smith to grant the request was adopted, without disseniigg vote.
