December 2Q, 1968 <br /> <br />At a called meeting of the City Council, held at 6:00 P.N., on December 207 1968, there were present: <br /> <br />Jack P. Barnes, George D. Eastes, Isaac ~. ~'ng, Raymond Turner, A. P. Johnson, Jr., City Nanager~ <br />N. A. Kerb, Jr., City Attorney, and R. D. Ottavio,~City Auditor. <br /> <br />The meeting was opened with prayer 5y Mr. King; <br /> <br />The following call for the meet~ng was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council, in the Council Chamber, at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, <br />December 20, 1968,.to consider on second reading, thefollowing ordinance, and to elect the directors of the <br />Industrial Development Authority of the Ci~f of Portsmouth: <br /> <br />~'AN ORDINANCE CREATING TH~ INE~ DEVELOPMENT AUTNORITY OF ~ CITY OF PORTSNOUTH, PROVIDING <br />FOR THE APPOINTMENT, TERM OF OFFICE, AND THE OA~{ OF THE DIRECTORS. OF SAID AUTHORITY, FOR THE <br />FILLING OF VACANCIES ON SAID AUT~DRITY, FOR Th~ COMPENSATION OF SAID DIRECTORS, FOR THE ORGANIZATION <br />OF SAID AUTHORITY, AND PRESCRIBING ~JB POWERS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SAID AUTNORITY'." <br /> <br />68-~8 - On motion of Mr. Eastefi~ the following ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE INDUSTRIAL DBVELOP~2-~T AUTHORITY OF ~tE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, PROVIDING <br />FOR THE APPOINT~{ENT~ TE~! OF OFFICE, ~{D THE o~rH OF ~iH DIRECTORS OF SAID AUTIIORITY, FOR THE <br />FILLING OF VACANCIES ON SAID ~]TNORI~f, FOR TH£ CONPENSATION OF SAID DIP~CTORS, FOR THE 0RGkNIZATION <br />OF SAID AUTHORITY, AND PRESCRIBING THE POWERS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SAID AUTHORITY." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Eastes, King Turner <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Notion of Mr. Turner to go into the election of directors of the Industrial Development Authority, was <br />adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> N~. King nominated the following: <br /> <br />E. S. Early, Jr. - for four year term <br />C. E. Adams - for three year term <br />L. L. Knight - for three year term <br />James P. Stepehenson - for two year term <br />Raymond Tweed - for two year term <br />R. T.
