August 26th, 1969 <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr Holley That the City Mana~r be instructed to advise Tidewater Vir- <br />ginia Development Council officials that Portsmouth is hereby resigning from Tidewater Virginia Development Coun- <br />cil, effective immediately, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />69-268 - The following petition from residents of South St. was read: <br /> <br /> ~.~We, the concerned residents of 4200 through 4600 blocks of South St., Westhaven <br /> would like to [bring to your attention the necessity for widening, paving and installation of curbs and gutters <br /> <br /> South Street is one of the heaviest traveled routes to City Park and the Simons- <br />date area. Traffic using this street as an access road to the local ball park creates havoc because of the nar- <br />row. uncurbed condition Also excessive dirt and dust can be alleviated by paving and curbing. <br /> Quite a few of the undersigned residents are long-term home owners of Portsmouth <br />and feel that our street has been overlooked. Please note that most of the surrounding streets are curbed.
