Arden Pfeiffer, 100 :GUlPePPbi~: Road, applicant, was present for <br /> questions. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Berm,: to concur with <br />the recommendation of the Planning Commission, and that UP-98-15(c) be <br />approved on first reading, and was adopted by a 4-0-1 vote. (Mr. Moody <br />abstained as his employer, Doughtie's Foodservice, sells food products to <br />Pfeiffers, Ltd. Mayor Holley was absent during the vote). <br /> <br />, Unfinished Business - <br /> <br />98-194 Street closure apPlication: <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the <br />following Ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />98,194(a): <br /> <br /> ',ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING A PORTION OF <br />PONDEROSA STREET~ PHILIPPINE STREET, AN UNNAMED STREET AND <br />AN UNNAMED ROAD IN THAT AREA OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH <br />KNOWN AS HATTONVlLLE." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- City Manager's Report - <br /> <br />98-255 Adoption of a resolution autho~riz ng the addition of Surry County t° ~ <br /> membership in the Hampton Roads partnership. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a resolution authorizing the addition of Surry County to <br /> membership in the Hampton Roads Partnership. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />The Hampton Roads Partnership currently consists of all the member <br />jurisdictions of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, <br />except Surry County. <br /> <br />Surry County became a member of the Hampton Roads Planning <br />District Commission on July 1, 1998, and now desires to become a <br />member of the Hampton Roads Partnership. <br /> <br />The Hampton Roads Partnership Executive Committee has approved <br />Surry County's request, subject to ratification by the Partnership's <br />member City Councils and County Boards .of Supervisors. <br /> <br />Surry County is geographically close to the remainder of Hampton <br />Roads. It participates in many regional activities of interest to other <br />Hampton Roads communities; and there is a strong economic <br />relationship with Hampton Roads, especially in the labor and consumer <br />markets. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· There will be no financial impact On Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> <br />
