January_ 12. 1999 501 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Councl on Tuesday, January 12, 1999, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, P. <br />Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, *William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. <br />Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />99 - 01 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, <br />January 12, 1999. for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />99 - 02 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br />1. Regional Human Services Delivery Plan <br />2. 1998 Public Safety Report <br />3. Update on Regional Jail <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. P, obinett, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to prowsions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss <br /> <br />or consider the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion of appointments by Council to committees, boards, or <br /> commissions, as permitted by Subsection (A)(1); <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />A prospective business or industry or expansion of an existing business <br />or industry where no previous announcement has been made of same in <br />the community, as permitted by Subsection (A)(5); <br /> <br />Specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel, <br />as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). <br /> <br />Motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section <br />2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or <br />considered in the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />Dr. James W.
