March 19, 1973 <br /> <br /> 73-94 The following letter received from Edward F. Pool, President, Cradock Property <br />Owner's A~n., was read: <br /> <br /> "The Cradock Property O~ers' Assn. voted in their last meeting to act on a request fromi <br />the Senior Citizens Club of Cradock. They've requested that the Crad~ck Community Center <br />be air conditioned before the summer of 1973. I <br /> <br /> The new addition to the center has provided ample space for assemblies and encourages <br />better attendance. Thank you for all that has been accomplished." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Smith and seeonded by Mr. Holley, the matter to be referred to the Finance <br />Commission, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />73-95 The following letter from M. A. Korb, Jr., Attorney, was read: <br /> <br /> 'TI enclose herewith the Certificate of the Secretary of the C~mmonwealth, certifying <br />that the ordinance creating the Tidewater Transportation District has been filed in her <br />office and that the said ordinance, satisfies the requirements of law. This Certificate <br />should be presented to your City Council for information purposes at its next meeting and <br />recorded in the Minutes of the Meeting. <br /> <br /> Please advise me by letter of the date of the me~ting at which this Certificate was <br />~resented and recorded." <br /> See Page 399(al-Certificate of the Secretary of the Commonwealth. <br /> Motion of Mr. King and seconded by Mr. Smith that the letter be received as informa~ <br />tion and recorded; along with the Certificate from the Secretary of the Commonwealth, in <br />the Minutes of this Council Meeting, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 73-~6 - ~tion of Mr. ~ing and seconded by Mr. Smith, the report of the Auditor of <br />Public Accounts on the audit of City Treasurer's Office for the fiscal y~ar ended Jun~ 30, <br />1972, to be received as information, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 73-97 The following letter received from Ms. T~elma Jones, Director, Tidewater <br />Area Youth Organization to A~d Victims of Sickle Cell Disease, was read: <br /> <br /> "The Tidewater Area Youth Organization to Aid Victims of Sickle Cell Disease is asking <br />for your support in helping us with financing bus services <br /> <br /> We will be carrying 1S0 to 200 children to see the Ringling Barnum and Bailey Circus <br />at Norfolk Scope on March 20, 1973, free of charge from this area with adult chaperones. <br />I have talked with three bus services and each of them say that this will cost from $27.00 <br />to $30.00 plus $4.00 tunnel fare per bus, and I will need 3 or ~ buses. If we don't use <br />all of them there will be no charges for the on~s not in service, each bus will seat 40 to <br />S0 people. Please help us give the children a beginnin~ of clean fun." <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Holley, and seconded by Mr. Johnson to be referred to the Finan~Commissio] <br /> <br /> Substitute motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. King, to write letter and regret that <br />City Council is unable to grant the request legally, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />73-98 The following letter received from A. P. Johnson, Jr., City Manager, was read: <br /> <br /> "Due to the pressure of other commitments, I have not been able to attend the meetings <br />of the Planning Commission to the extent that should be done. I am, ther6fore, requesting <br />that I be removed and replace ~ith someone that can actively attend all sessions of the <br />Planning Commission.' <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barly and seconded by Mr. Johnson, to receive Mr. A. P.
