"AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AND ENACTING A NEW CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA; ESTABLISHING THE S~ME; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL <br />OF CERTAIN ORDINANCES NOT INCLUDED THEREIN; EXCEPT AS HEREIN EXPRESSLY <br />PROVIDED; PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF SUCH CODE AND A PENALTY <br />FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; PROVIDING FOR THE F~INNER OF ~MENDING SUCH <br />CODE; AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Nolley, King, Smith <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 75-500 "I submit the attached resolution and recommend its adoption. This <br />authorizes the sale of surplus City-owned property on Jefferson Street in Prentis <br />Park. This consists of one small jib lot. <br /> <br /> One bid was received from the Prentis Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses <br />in the amount of $350.00. It is recommended that this property be sold to the above <br />congregation." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. 8mAth and seconded by Mr. Early, the following resolution was <br />deferred to next Council meeting, December 18, 1975, ~'fihont dissenting ~,te: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ~&NAGER TO ACCEPT THE BID OF PRENTIS <br />CONGREGATION OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES, FO~4ERLY DOWNTOWN CONGREGATION OF <br />JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES, TO PURCHASE CERTAIN CITY-OWNED PROPERTY ~JEFFERSON <br />STREET LOT)." <br /> <br />PARK <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS - <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />73-478 <br /> <br />The following ordinance, approved at last meeting, was taken up and read: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $10,000 FROM THE PUBLIC UTILITY FUND FOR THE <br />CITY'S SHARE OF INITIAL COST OF THE REGIONAL WATER AUTHORITY." <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Early, the ordinance was adopted, and by <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, King, Smith <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />73-479 - The following ordinance, approved at last meeting, was taken <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $23,564.91 IN THE FEDERAL GRANTS FUND FOR <br />PAYMENTS UNDER THE CURRENT AMBULANCE CONTRACT." <br /> <br />up and read: <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Early, the ordinance was adopted, <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, King, Smith <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />and by <br /> <br />73-480 - The following ordinance, approved at last meeting, was taken up and read: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $22,500 FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE PAINTING OF <br />THE INTERIOR OF THE JAIL.' <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Early, the ordinance was adopted, and by <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, King, Smith <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />73-481 The following ordinance, approved at last meeting, was taken up and read: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 18 OF THE CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLAN OF THE <br />CITY %0 INCREASE THE COMPLEMENT OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT." <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Early, the ordinance was adopted, and by <br />following yore: <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, King, Smith <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 73-501 Motion of Mr. <br />executive session prior to <br />of: <br /> <br />Early and seconded by Mr. Holley, that the Council meet in an <br />the next regularly scheduled Council meeting for the purpose <br /> <br /> <br />
