<br /> 75-262 "Consideration of an ordinance on first reading to appropriate $265,135 in the
<br />Capital Improvement Fund for the purchase of school buses from Community Motor Bus Company.
<br />
<br /> This appropriation was authorized in May from the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund and
<br />this appropriation was inadvertently omitted as a companion appropriation for the Capital
<br />~mprovement Fund. The City Manager recommends adoption. Request is made for a voice vote
<br />on £irst reading and to instruct the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance for final reading."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Wentz, the following ordinance to be drafted,
<br />was approved on first reading, and by unanimous vote:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $265,135 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE PUR-
<br />CHASE OF SCHOOL BUSES."

<br /> 75-225 On motion of Mr. ~arly and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the following resolution
<br />deferred from regular meeting of May 27, 1975, was adopted and by the following vote:

<br />"ARESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR CLOSING A PORTION OF JARMAN AVENUE.
<br />
<br /> WHER~S, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has made application
<br />to vacate and close the hereinafter described portion of a certain street and it appearing
<br />that notice of the application and request for the.appointment of viewers was duly posted
<br />on May 16, 1975 on the bulletin board of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, City
<br />Hall Building, and the General District Court, Civil Division of the City of Portsmouth.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Cit~ of Portsmouth, Virginia, tha~
<br />Prank N. Bilisoly, Zalmon Blachman, C. L. Robinson, Rebert Read and Charlie Hudgins be appointed

<br /> Substitute motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Early, the matter to be tabled to
<br />the regular meeting of August 12, 1975, and request Seaguard Corporation to give a letter of
<br />intent to screen ~he warehouse and all buildings and the City Manager, through Planning Com-
<br />mission, to see if Seaguard Avenue can be opened to Greenwood Drive, was adopted by unanimous
<br />vote.

<br /> 75-265 - Vernon C. Crump, Jr., President, Lee Ward Civic League, presented petition with
<br />300 signatures and spoke~ regarding curbs, gutters and drainage in the area. (See Exhibit 75-265

<br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Holley, the matter to be referred to the City
<br />Manager and a report be furnished, was adopted by unanimous vote.
