May 25, 1999 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City COUncil on Tuesda.v, May 25, 1999, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr:, Jr., J. Thomas Berm III, <br />William E. Moody, Jr:, Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie <br />Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. <br /> <br />99 - 119 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City CounCil to be held in the City Council <br />Chamber, 801 Crawford street, 6~h floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 1999, for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />99 - 120 - The following items were discussed in Public Work, Session: <br /> <br />1. Commission of Architectural Review Appea for 34 Riverview Avenue <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Berm, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to c~Oncur with the denial by <br />Commission 'of Architectural Review for Port Norfolk and Park View of the <br />application by the contractor for the retention of the whitb aluminum wrapped <br />facia and rake, and was adoPted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />2. Portsmouth Flag <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin, seconded by Mr: Benn, to go into Executive Sessiol <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1,344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider <br />the following: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Discussion of the acquisitiOn or use of real property for public purpose in <br />the DoWntOwn Business and Port Centre sections of the City, as <br />by subsection (A)(3); and <br /> <br />(2) Discussion of appointments by Council to committees, boards, o <br /> commissions, permitted by subsection (A)(1). <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344~1 of the Code of Virginia, Certifl/ing that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of InformatiOn Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considere~ <br />in the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED- ~~-J~,,~'~--~ ~ <br /> Dr. James W.
