May 25, 1999 At a Called Meeting of the City COUncil on Tuesda.v, May 25, 1999, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr:, Jr., J. Thomas Berm III, William E. Moody, Jr:, Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. 99 - 119 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City CounCil to be held in the City Council Chamber, 801 Crawford street, 6~h floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 1999, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 99 - 120 - The following items were discussed in Public Work, Session: 1. Commission of Architectural Review Appea for 34 Riverview Avenue Motion by Mr. Berm, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to c~Oncur with the denial by Commission 'of Architectural Review for Port Norfolk and Park View of the application by the contractor for the retention of the whitb aluminum wrapped facia and rake, and was adoPted by unanimous vote. 2. Portsmouth Flag Motion by Mr. Griffin, seconded by Mr: Benn, to go into Executive Sessiol pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1,344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: (1) Discussion of the acquisitiOn or use of real property for public purpose in the DoWntOwn Business and Port Centre sections of the City, as by subsection (A)(3); and (2) Discussion of appointments by Council to committees, boards, o commissions, permitted by subsection (A)(1). Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344~1 of the Code of Virginia, Certifl/ing that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of InformatiOn Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considere~ in the meeting by the City Council.
