Willett Auditorium located in the City of Portsmouth has adequate seating <br />for 2000 persons and has an abundance of free parking available; and <br /> <br /> W}LEREAS, said T. A. Willett Auditorium is situated within ten minutes of the Omni Interna~ <br />tional Hotel, Norfolk, Virginia. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br />it authorizes the Mayor to send telegrams/mailgrams to the members of the State Water Control <br />Board expressing the City Coucil's unanimous opposition to the holding of a Public Hearing <br />on Hampton Road Energy Company's application for a water discharge permit in the City Council <br />Chambers of the City of Norfolk. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council strenuously urges that said Public Hearing <br />be held in T. A. Willett Auditorium in the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to forward a certified copy of <br />this resolution to the Governor of the State of Virginia and to the State Water Control Board <br />and the members thereof." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Elliott, Holley, 0ast, Wentz, Davis <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 76-490 - The following letter received from P. J. Brady, member of Southeastern Public <br />Service Authority, zR~:~:i-reciO~d~.f Public Utilities, was presented:: <br /> <br /> "Please accept my resignation effective November 30, 1976 as one of Portsmouth's alter- <br />nate members of the Southeastern Public Service Authority. As you know I have accepted a <br />position with the County of Henrico and will be leaving Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> It has been my privilege to represent Portsmouth as an alternate member of S.P.S.A. in th <br />infrequent absence of Mr. Jack P. Barnes. Portsmouth has been one of the leaders in regional <br />cooperation through S.P.S.A.
