35O January 10, 1978 The resignation of William H. Blackwell, Jr. from the following Boards/Commissions was received: Craney Island Study Commission Norfolk/Portsmouth Citizegs Committee for Economic Development Industrial Development Authority Motion of Mr. Holley and seconded by Mr. Elliott,to!~c%ose ~nominations, and the above members were elected to Board/Commission as designated; that appropriate Certificates of Appreciation be prepared for William H. Blackwell, Jr., Charles D. Lane, Jr., L. L. Knight, Dr. Joseph Allen, and Capt. Phillip Enrico, and was adpp~ed by unanimous vote. On motion meeting adjourned. APPRO-VBD -: Mayor * '~A RESOLUTION GRANTING A USE PERMIT TO SEAGUARD CORPORATION TO OPERATE A STORAGE WAREHOUSE AND YARD, WHOLESALE AND JOBBING ESTABLISH~{ENT ON MOUNT VERNON AVENUE. WHEREAS, Seaguard Corporation pursuant to Section 40-?l(b) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, for the granting of a Use Permit as hereinafter described; and WHEREAS, the applicant and the Planning Director have done all things required to be done in connection with said application; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has granted the recommending of said Use Permit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That the use for which the Use Permit hereinafter is sought; (a) Will not adversely affect the health and safety of persons residing or working in the neighborhood of the proposed use; (b) Will not be detrimental to the public use or injurious to property or improvements in the neighborhood; and (c) Will be in accord with the purposes of the Zoning Chapter of the City Code. 2. Seaguard Corporation is hereby granted a Use Permit pursuant to Section 40-72(b) of the City Code to operate a storage warehouse and yard, wholesale and jobbing establishment of the property described as follows: Beginning at the southwest intersection of Hartford Street and Mount Vernon Avenue; thence south along the west side of Mount Vernon Avenue to the north right of way line of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad property; thence south along the west side of Mount Vernon~Avenue to the north right of way line of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad property; thence southwest along said railroad property to the east right of way line of Florida Avenue; thence north along said right of way to the south right of ~ylineof ~artford Street; thence east along said right of way to the west right of way line of Mount Vernon Avenue, the Point of Beginning."
