July 27, 1999 <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a motion to transfer $83,494 from the Grants Contingency Account to <br />purchase a new Type I ambulance and three Lifepak 500 Automatic Defibrillators. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical <br />Services, awarded the City of Portsmouth this grant from the Rescue Squad Assistance <br />Fund to purchase a replacement Type I ambulance and new equipment for the <br />Emergency Medical Services department. <br /> <br />· This purchase will enable the City to increase the dependability of the ambulance <br />fleet and maintain emergency responses. <br /> <br />· The purchase of Lifepak AED equipment will enable the City to stock ladder <br />companies with life-saving "standard of care" equipment. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· There is a 50% match required as follows: <br /> <br />Commonwealth of Virginia <br />City Garage <br />Emergency Medical Services <br /> <br />$ 41,747 <br />36,710 <br />5,037 <br />83,494 <br /> <br />· These funds have already been identified in the existing budget. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the transfer of <br />$83,494 from the Grant Contingency Account to purchase a new Type I ambulance and <br />three Lifepak 500 Automatic Defibrillators, and was adopted by the following: <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />99 - 175 - Mr. Robinett offered the following nominations for the Empowerment 2010 <br />Governments Board: <br /> <br />David Rice, Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />Steven L.
