ORDINANCE NO. 2024-97 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A DAM SAFETY AND FLOODPLAIN <br />MANAGEMENT PROGRAM GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $217,568 FROM <br />THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION AND RECREATION <br />AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE DAM UPGRADES PROJECT <br />IN THE WATER CATEGORY OF THE FY 2025 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT <br />FUND BUDGET FOR THE PREPARATION OF A PRELIMINARY <br />ENGINEERING REPORT TO EVALUATE THE CAPACITY OF THE <br />SPEIGHTS RUN DAM SPILLWAY. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts a Dam Safety and Floodplain Management Program <br />grant in the amount of $217,568 from the Virginia Department of Conservation and <br />Recreation and appropriates said amount in the Dam Upgrades Project in the Water <br />Category of the FY 2025 Capital Improvement Fund Budget. <br />2. That the funds shall be used for the preparation of a preliminary <br />engineering report to evaluate the capacity of the Speights Run Dam Spillway. <br />3. That a dollar -for -dollar local match is required as a condition of the <br />funding, which match has previously been appropriated in the FY 2025 Capital <br />Improvement Fund Budget. <br />4. That the State Aid revenue source in the Dam Upgrades Project in the <br />Water Category of the FY 2025 Capital Improvement Fund Budget is increased by <br />$217,568 and the Bond revenue source in the Dam Upgrades Project in the Water <br />Category of the FY 2025 Capital Improvement Fund Budget is decreased by $217,568. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on September 24, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
