ORDINANCE NO. 2024-74 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REORDAINING ARTICLE IX (OFFENSES <br />AGAINST PROPERTY) OF CHAPTER 24 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA BY AMENDING SECTION 24-316 (REMOVAL OR <br />REPAIR OF DEFACEMENT OF BUILDINGS, WALLS, FENCES AND OTHER <br />STRUCTURES) TO MODIFY SUBSECTIONS (C) AND (E) AND ADD A NEW <br />SUBSECTION (F) FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONFORMING THE CITY'S <br />AVAILABLE REMEDIES FOR DEFACEMENT OF PROPERTY TO THE <br />PROVISIONS OF THE VIRGINIA CODE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it amends and reordains Article IX (Offenses Against Property) of <br />Chapter 24 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia by amending Section 24-316 <br />(Removal or Repair of Defacement of Buildings, Walls, Fences and Other Structures) to <br />modify Subsections (C) and (E) and add a new Subsection (F), as shown on Exhibit A <br />hereto. <br />2. That the purpose of the amendment is to conform the City's available <br />remedies for defacement of property to the provisions of the Virginia Code. <br />3. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on August 13, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
