ORDINANCE NO. 2023 -84 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 FROM <br />THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION <br />THROUGH THE VIRGINIA HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2024 GRANTS FUND FOR USE <br />BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO REDUCE DRIVING UNDER THE <br />INFLUENCE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the U.S. <br />Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through <br />the Virginia Highway Safety Office and appropriates said funds in the FY 2024 Grants <br />Fund. <br />2. That the grant will be used by the Portsmouth Police Department to reduce <br />Driving Under the Influence and for other eligible uses under the grant terms. <br />3. That an in -kind local match of $5,000 is required as a condition of the <br />grant, which match will be satisfied by previously budgeted funding in the FY 2024 <br />General Fund budget. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2024 Grants Fund are <br />increased by $10,000. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on September 26, 2023. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
