R -21 -31 <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH'S FY 2023 <br />TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES SET -ASIDE SURFACE <br />TRANSPORTATION BLOCK GRANT FUNDING APPLICATION TO THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia desires to submit <br />an application for an allocation of funds up to $1,453,257 through the Virginia Department <br />of Transportation Fiscal Year 2023 Transportation Alternatives Set -Aside Surface <br />Transportation Block Grant Funding Program; and <br />WHEREAS, all $1,453,257 of these funds are requested to fund the Portsmouth <br />Pedestrian Enhancement Project Phase 2 at five locations that serve bus stops, school zones <br />and other retail service centers; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia hereby supports <br />this application for an allocation of $1,453,257 through the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation Fiscal Year 2023 Transportation Alternatives Set -Aside Surface <br />Transportation Block Grant Funding Program; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia that it hereby commits to fund its local share of preliminary <br />engineering, right -of -way and construction (as applicable) of the project under agreement <br />with the Virginia Department of Transportation in accordance with the project financial <br />documents; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to execute <br />all agreements and /or addenda for any approved projects with the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on October 12, 2021. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
