� 1 <br />OR — <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,958 FROM <br />THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NATIONAL HIGHWAY <br />TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION THROUGH THE VIRGINIA <br />HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE <br />FY 2020 GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE PORTSMOUTH POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT TO INCREASE USAGE OF OCCUPANT RESTRAINTS IN <br />VEHICLES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts a grant in the amount of $6,958 from the U.S. <br />Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through <br />the Virginia Highway Safety Office and appropriates said funds in the FY 2020 Grants <br />Fund. <br />2. That the appropriation shall be used by the Portsmouth Police Department <br />for enforcement and educational efforts to significantly increase seatbelt usage. <br />3. That an in -kind match of $3,479 is required as a condition of the grant, <br />which match will be satisfied by previously budgeted funding for fuel and vehicle <br />maintenance costs. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2020 Grants Fund are <br />increased by $6,958. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on September 24, 2019. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
