SIGN, YARD <br />A lightweight temporary freestanding sign that is not a wind sail sign, inflatable sign, or A -frame <br />or T -frame sign. A yard sign is generally installed in the ground on a wooden post or a thin frame <br />made of metal. <br />A General Sign Standards <br />(1) Classification of Sign Types <br />For purposes of this Sec. 40.1-5.11, signs are generally classified as either <br />permanent or temporary, and as either freestanding or attached. Table 40.1 - <br />5.11(D)(1): Classification of Sign Types, identifies signs according to their <br />classification. <br />I FABLE <br />40.1-5.11 (1))(1): Cl,,kSSIFICATION 01" SIGNTYI)ES <br />ATfAGHED FREESTANDING <br />Awning sign <br />Ground sign <br />Canopy sign <br />Monument sign <br />Marquee sign <br />Off - premises sign <br />PERMANENT <br />Off - premises sign <br />Pole sign <br />Projecting sign <br />Wall sign <br />Window sign <br />Banner sign <br />A -frame or T -frame sign <br />TEMPORARY <br />Blade sign <br />Inflatable sign <br />Inflatable sign <br />Wind sail sign <br />Window sin <br />Yard sign <br />(2) Prohibited Signs <br />The following signs are prohibited in all zoning districts: <br />(a) Roof signs; <br />(b) Pennants; <br />(c) Balloons which meet the definition of "sign" and are greater than two feet <br />in diameter with a tether more than two feet long extending from a roof or <br />structure by means of a rope, string, or other device; <br />(d) Obsolete signs containing sign copy, print, or graphics which advertise an <br />activity, business, product, or service no longer produced or conducted on <br />the premises. An exception to the immediate removal of obsolete sign <br />copy, print or graphics will occur where the owner or lessor of the <br />premises on which the sign is located is seeking a new tenant, in which <br />A -11 <br />
