AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RESTATING ORDINANCE 2016 -93 <br />REGARDING THE ACCEPTANCE AND APPROPRIATION OF STATE <br />HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />REFLECTING REVISED GRANT FUNDING. <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia adopted Ordinance <br />2016 -93 on November 22, 2016 (the "Original Ordinance ") for the purpose of accepting <br />and appropriating Homeland Security Grant Program funds in the amount of $90,000 <br />from the Federal Emergency Management Agency through the Virginia Department of <br />Emergency Management ( "VDEM "); and <br />WHEREAS, VDEM has subsequently advised the City that the grant funding <br />will be reduced from $90,000 to $37,574; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts a grant in the amount of $37,574 from the Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency through the Virginia Department of Emergency <br />Management and appropriates said funds in the FY 2017 Grants Fund. <br />2. That the appropriation shall be used by Department of Fire, Rescue, and <br />Emergency Services for equipment and training in connection with its role in the <br />Southside Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team. <br />3. That no match is required for the grant funds. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2017 Grants Fund are <br />increased by $37,574. <br />5. That the Original Ordinance is hereby amended and restated in its entirety <br />and shall be of no force or effect. <br />6. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on February 28, 2017. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
