UPTOWN D2 DISTRICT FORM-BASED CODE January 26, 2016 <br />407. Martin Luther King Highway Frontage <br />A. Generallntent <br />1. This section provides for the unique circumstance of FACADES fronting the Martin Luther King <br />Highway Extension where certain relaxations and exceptions to elements of this Code may <br />be granted. <br />2. The exemptions allow building FACADES that face such Limited Access Highway Frontages <br />to respond to the roadway at an appropriate scale. They provide more leeway for signage <br />and allow non-'street-wall' buildings above the GROUND STORY level (including curved <br />and/or open courtyard/"alphabet" configurations). <br />3. Frontages on streets intersecting with the Limited Access Highway Frontage are subject to <br />the full standards for those srREET FRONTAGES. <br />B. Building Envelope Standards <br />1. Height <br />The height limit may be increased by 33 percent. <br />2. Siting <br />The minimum build-to may be reduced to 50 percent (STREET wALL requirements still apply). <br />3. Elements <br />a. The requirements for upper sroRY FENESTRATION do not apply. <br />b. The GROUND sroRY minimum FENESTRATION requirement may be reduced. to 20 percent. <br />C. Blocks/Alleys <br />1. There are no requirements to provide through-access along block faces via an ALLEY, <br />access easement, Or PEDESTRIAN PATHWAY. <br />2. There are no limits on curb cuts on the frontage road. <br />D. Architectural Standards <br />1. Windows and Doors <br />a. Materials <br />The requirements for upper sroRY window light transmission do not apply. <br />b. Configurations and Techniques <br />The requirements for upper sroRY windows do not apply. <br />2. signage <br />For upper sroRlES: <br />a. Wall signs are allowed anywhere above the second sTORY floor level. <br />b. The maximum limits on lettering size, blade sign size are increased by a factor of three <br />(3)• <br />c. There is no limit on the size and location of blade signs. <br />d. Marquee signs are permitted. <br />28 <br />
