~~~~~~ 2014 6,, <br />AN ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THAT PORTION OF BRIGHTON <br />STREET LOCATED BETWEEN CHESTNUT STREET AND EFFINGHAM STREET <br />TO JOHN T. FISHER WAY. <br />WHEREAS, John T. Fisher, Jr. humbly and ably served the Portsmouth community for <br />sixty years as director and owner of Fisher Funeral Home and provided services, encouragement <br />and consolation to hundreds of citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, an application has been filed by Karen Fisher Davis on behalf of Fisher <br />Funeral Home to honor John T. Fisher, Jr. by formally changing the name of the block of <br />Brighton Street located between Chestnut Street and Effingham Street to John T. Fisher Way; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia that the portion of what is now known as Brighton Street located between Chestnut <br />Street and Effingham Street be renamed and known as John T. Fisher Way. <br />Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held December <br />9, 2014. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
