'''IlRnIUA' U,,[., Mn Ul u i!~.r'iu '.U._20,1~,:.Q;3 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (2006) BY AMENDING SECTION 4-33.1(d) AND APPENDIX A THEREOF PERTAINING TO REGISTRATION OF DANGEROUS DOGS. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Section 4-33.1(d) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (2006) is amended and reordained to read as follows: Sec. 4-33.1. - Authority to control dangerous or vicious dogs. (d) The owner of any animal found by the court to be a dangerous dog shall, within 45 days of such finding, obtain a dangerous dog registration certificate from the city treasurer for a fee as set forth in Appendix A to this Code in addition to other fees that may be authorized by law. The city treasurer's office shall also provide the owner with a uniformly designed tag which identifies the animal as a dangerous dog. The owner shall affix the tag to the animal's collar and ensure that the animal wears the collar and tag at all times. All certificates obtained pursuant to this subsection shall be updated and renewed by January 31 of each calendar year for a renewal fee as set forth in Appendix A to this Code and in the same manner as the initial certificate was obtained. 2. That Appendix A of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia is amended with respect to dangerous dog registration fees to read as follows: CHAPTER 4. ANlMULS Code Section 4-33.1 (d) Description Fee for dangerous dog registration certificate Annual renewal fee Fee $150.00 $ 85.00 3. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption.
