<br />R-13-50 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY'S 2014 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE AGENDA <br />PACKAGE FOR THE 114th CONGRESS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress deals with a broad range of issues that affect <br />local government both directly and indirectly; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns that deal with both Portsmouth <br />specifically and local governments in general; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these concerns need to be made known to Portsmouth's congressional <br />delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the Senate and the House of <br />Representatives. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that it endorses the attached 2014 Federal Legislative Agenda Package for <br />consideration by the thel14th Congress and directs that both this resolution and the Council's <br />endorsed 2014 Federal Legislative Agenda Package be forwarded to the City's congressional <br />representatives. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager and/or his designee(s) are hereby <br />authorized and directed to provide necessary input and clarification during the 114th Congress <br />session and to carry out other activities as needed to assist in attaining the goals and objectives <br />contained in the City's 2014 Federal Legislative Agenda Package. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on <br />October 22, 2013. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
