<br />ORDINANCE NIL 2 q,.~~~:, <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE (1) AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH, AND ACCEPT $112,000 IN FEDERAL HIGHWAY <br />ADMINISTRATION FUNDS FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION (VDOT); (2) APPROVING A PROJECT PROGRAMMING <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING VDOT TO ESTABLISH AN URBAN SYSTEM <br />HIGHWAY PROJECT FOR CITYWIDE SIGNAL TIMING PHASE 2; AND (3) <br />APPROPRIATING $112,000 TO A NEW PROJECT IN THE FY 2012-13 <br />CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR THIS TRAFFIC SIGNAL TIMING <br />UPGRADE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That it request the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to <br />establish an Urban System Highway Project for Citywide Signal Timing Phase 2; <br /> <br />2. That it accepts the sum of $112,000 from the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation (VDOT) under the Federal Highway Administration Congestion <br />Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program and authorizes the City Manager to <br />execute an agreement with the Virginia Department of Transportation for administration <br />of an urban highway project for said Urban System Highway Project; <br /> <br />3. That the funds shall be used to expand upon the improvements to the traffic <br />signal control system soon to be completed under a $2,253,000 American Recovery and <br />Reinvestment Act project (phase 1) and future programmed improvements, utilizing the <br />improved capabilities of the new systems; <br /> <br />4. That the cost of the projects will be borne totally by VDOT, and that no <br />matching funds are required from City; and <br /> <br />5. That it appropriates $112,000 in the FY 2012-13 Capital Improvements <br />Fund, and estimated revenue in said Fund is increased by the same amount. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on May 22, 2012. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
