<br />ORDlHANCE 1)..2 Q 11- 5 Q <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE PORTIONS OF SOUTH STREET, HAWKINS STREET, <br />AND THE CRAWFORD CONNECTOR. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has requested the closure of portions of South <br />Street, Hawkins Street, and the Crawford Connector, as hereafter described; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, at a meeting held on June 7, 2011, <br />recommended approval of the closure and vacation of portions of South Street, Hawkins Street, <br />and the Crawford Connector, and described as shown on an exhibit entitled: "EXHIBIT <br />SHOWING PORTIONS OF HAWKINS STREET, SOUTH STREET AND CRAWFORD <br />CONNECTOR TO BE CLOSED", dated October 2,2007, prepared by Stephen 1. Boone & <br />Associates, P.C., and attached hereto. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, notice of the proposed closure and vacation has been given to the adjoining <br />property owners in accordance with Section 15.2-2006 of the Code of Virginia, as amended. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia that said portions of South Street, Hawkins Street and the Crawford Connector, be <br />closed and vacated as a public street and right of way all shown on Tax Plat 0167. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City of Portsmouth hereby reserves an <br />easement in said South Street, Hawkins Street and the Crawford Connector hereby closed and <br />vacated for the installation, operation, maintenance and replacement of public utilities which said <br />easements may be released and vacated by the City Manager of the City of Portsmouth as he <br />may in his discretion deem appropriate and in the best interest of the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the closed and vacated portions of South Street, <br />Hawkins Street, and the Crawford Connector shall be deemed to become part of the Downtown <br />T6 zoning subdistrict, the zoning of the properties adjoining said streets. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute <br />such deeds or other documents as he may deem appropriate and necessary to convey such rights <br />as the City may have in said closed street as may be required by the adjoining property owners. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held on July <br />12,2011. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
