<br />.. <br /> <br />DECLARATION OF LOCAL EMERGENCY <br /> <br />Pursuant to Portsmouth City Code S2-658, and acting in my legal capacity as Director of <br />Emergency Management, I hereby declare a LOCAL EMERGENCY, as follows: <br /> <br />1. The cause of the Local Emergency is the December 26, 2010 snowstorm and the <br />continuing extraordinary involvement of municipal resources required to recover from <br />same. <br /> <br />2. This declaration is effective as of 12:01AM, December 26,2010. It shall remain in <br />effect for fourteen days from said date unless modified, extended, or cancelled by <br />Portsmouth City Council. <br /> <br />3. The Chief of the Department of Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services is hereby <br />appointed Coordinator of Emergency Management. <br /> <br />4. All departments and agencies of city government shall cooperate in full with all <br />directives from the Director or the Coordinator. All independent agencies and officials <br />within the City of Portsmouth, including without limitation the Portsmouth Public School <br />Division, the Sheriffs Office, the Portsmouth Health Department, and the South <br />Hampton Roads Regional Jail shall also cooperate as fully as reasonably possible and act <br />under the overall direction of the Director or the Coordinator. Portsmouth City Code g2- <br />659(a). <br /> <br />5. All emergency powers granted by Portsmouth City Code g2-659 (copy attached) are now <br />in force and effect. <br /> <br />Witness my signature this 29th day of December, 2010. <br /> <br />
