<br />R-10-09 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION ESTABLISH THREE NEW PROJECTS FOR <br />IMPROVEMENTS AT THE GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGHWAY - VICTORY <br />BOULEVARD, GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGHWAY - ELM AVENUE AND <br />HIGH STREET - CEDAR LANE INTERSECTIONS UTILIZING HIGHWAY <br />SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (HSIP) FUNDS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation construction <br />allocation procedures, it is necessary that a request by council resolution be made in order that <br />the Department program new projects in the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, requests that the Virginia Department of Transportation establish <br />three Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Proactive Safety projects for <br />improvements at the George Washington Highway - Victory Boulevard, George <br />Washington Highway - Elm Avenue and High Street - Cedar Lane intersections [Project <br />Numbers 0017-124-161, P101, C501 (UPC 95422); 0141-124-221, PI01, M501 (UPC <br />95424); and 0017-124-222, P101, M501 (UPC 95425),] <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, while the full source of said projects will be borne <br />by the Commonwealth of Virginia, should the City of Portsmouth cancel any project, the City <br />will reimburse the Virginia Department of Transportation for the total amount of the costs of said <br />project expended by the Department through the date the Department is notified of such <br />cancellation. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on <br />March 23,2010, <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
