<br />R-09-62 <br /> <br />ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE VIRGINIA <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION THROUGH THE HIGHWAY SAFETY <br />IMPROVMENTS PROGRAM TO ESTABLISH AN URBAN SYSTEM <br />HIGHWAY PROJECT TO REPLACE THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM AT <br />HIGH AND COURT STREETS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) <br />construction allocation procedures, it is necessary that a request by council resolution be made in <br />order that VDOT program an urban highway project in the City of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, for VDOT to establish the requested urban system highway project, the <br />City is required to submit to VDOT a Standard Project Administration Agreement executed by <br />the City. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, requests the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish an urban system <br />highway project for High and Court Streets Traffic Signalization, Project #UOOO-124-l56, PlOl, <br />M50l: UPC 93665. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to execute the <br />VDOT Standard Project Administration Agreement and such other documents as may be <br />required for this Project. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the cost of this Project shall be borne totally by <br />VDOT as a reimbursement of project costs expended by the City of Portsmouth, and that no <br />matching funds shall be required of the City. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, if the City subsequently elects to cancel this <br />project, the City of Portsmouth hereby agrees to reimburse the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation for the total amount of the costs expended by the Department through the date the <br />Department is notified of such cancellation. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on <br />October 27,2009. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
