<br />,~' <br /> <br />ORDINANCE .~Q,Q ~;:cil~~ <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 40 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (2006) BY AMENDING SECTION 40-22 AND <br />REPLACING ARTICLE V THEREOF PERTAINING TO SIGNAGE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1, That Section 40-22 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (2006) <br />be amended by repealing the following definitions from said section: <br /> <br />2, That Chapter 40 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia be <br />amended by repealing Article V thereof and enacting a new Article V to read as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE V. SIGNS <br /> <br />Sec. 40-60. Signs Permitted by Zoning District. <br /> <br />Signs shall be permitted in the various zoning districts as set forth in sections 40-60.1 <br />through 40-60.9. <br /> <br />Sec. 40-60.1. Signs Permitted in all Residential RS Zoning Districts. <br /> <br />In addition to the general requirements applicable to all signs set forth in this article, the <br />following signs shall be permitted in all Residential RS zoning districts: <br /> <br />(1) Signs permitted without city approval: <br />a. Name Plate sign <br />b, Residential Freestanding sign <br />c, Temporary sign, including temporary banner signs <br />(2) Signs permitted after a Certificate of Compliance is issued: <br />a. Historic and Memorial Marker <br />b, Institutional Canopy sign <br />c. Institutional Freestanding sign <br />d. Noncommercial sign <br /> <br />Sec. 40-60.2. Signs Permitted in all Residential RT and RM Zoning Districts. <br /> <br />In addition to the general requirements applicable to all signs set forth in this article, the <br />following signs shall be permitted in all Residential RT and RM zoning districts: <br /> <br />(1) Signs permitted without city approval: <br />a, Incidental sign <br />b. Name Plate sign <br />c. Residential Freestanding sign <br />d. Temporary sign, including temporary banner signs <br />(2) Signs permitted after a Certificate of Compliance is issued: <br />a, Canopy sign <br />b. Freestanding sign up to four feet in height <br />c. Historic and Memorial Marker <br />d, Institutional Canopy sign <br />
