<br />R-07-06 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL FOR THE CENTER FOR <br />EMERGENCY MEDICAL & SAFETY TRAINING, A PRIVATE EMERGENCY <br />MEDICAL SERVICES AGENCY, TO PROVIDE CERTAIN TRANSPORT <br />SERVICES WITHIN THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOL VED, by the Council ofthc City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />That, having received a request from thc Center for Emergency Medical & Safety <br />Training, a private business. for the City's approval of its application to be licensed as an <br />Advanced Life Support agency within the City of Portsmouth, and, that said approval is <br />required pursuant to Virginia Administrative Code regulation, 12 V AC5-3l-4l 0: <br /> <br />1. fhe Council hereby grants approval to the Center for Emergency Medical <br />& Safety Training. with the following stipulations, which must be adhered to: <br /> <br />a. That the Center for Emergency Medical & Safety Training agrees <br />to limit it's transport business to that of non-emergency transports at all times <br />when operating within the City of Portsmouth; <br /> <br />b. That the Center for Emergency Medical & Safety Training agrees <br />that it will not attempt to provide nor respond to emergency situations (commonly <br />known as "911" calls) within the City of Portsmouth, unless requested by the City <br />of Portsmouth Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services Department, through a <br />mutual aid agreement; <br /> <br />c. That the Center for Emergency Medical & Safety Training agrees <br />that in the normal course of their transport business, while within the City of <br />Portsmouth, if it becomes aware of an emergency situation, it will reportthe <br />situation immediately to the City of Portsmouth's dispatch center to be handled by <br />the Portsmouth Firc, Rescuc and Emergency Services Department. <br /> <br />d. That the Center for Emergency Medical & Safety Training <br />acknowledges that the Portsmouth Department of Fire. Rescue and Emergency <br />Medical Serviees is the only designated 911 agency authorized to provide <br />emergency services and emergency transport within the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />2. That the City or Portsmouth's boundaries are as identified in the City <br />Charter. Section 1.02. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia. at a meeting held <br />on February 13.2007. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
