<br />R--07-25 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 39 TO THE CRAWFORD <br />CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE CRAWFORD URBAN <br />RENEWAL PROJECT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted August I, 1967, approved a <br />Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the Crawford Urban Renewal Project, Portsmouth, <br />Virginia (Plan) and has approved subsequent amendments thereto; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for consideration and approval a copy <br />of an amended Plan (Amendment No. 39) consisting of 18 pages and four exhibits for the project <br />area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Amendment No. 39 proposes to designate an additional property as "To Be <br />Acquired"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that are imposed by the <br />provisions of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, including <br />those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, religion, familial status, handicap, <br />sex or national origin; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council, it is in the interest of the City and its <br />inhabitants that the said Amendment be approved. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br />I. That regarding Amendment No. 39, it is hereby found: <br /> <br />(a) That the objectives of the Crawford Urban Renewal Project can be better <br />achieved by the adoption of said Amendment to the Plan. <br /> <br />(b) That Amendment No. 39 meets the requirements of a plan for an urban <br />renewal project pursuant to Chapter I of Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, <br />1950, as amended. <br /> <br />2. That Amendment No. 39, having been duly reviewed and considered, is hereby <br />approved and adopted, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a copy of said Amendment <br />with the minutes of this meeting. <br />
