<br />ORDINANCE ..2005~~4 ~ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION 2-34, <br />PROVIDING FOR REMOVAL OF APPOINTEES TO CERTAIN APPOINTED BODIES. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988) be, and hereby is, <br />amended and reordained by adding thereto a new Section 2- 34 to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2-34 Appointees to appointed bodies to serve at the pleasure of Council. <br /> <br />A. The term "appointed body" shall mean any board, commission, committee or other <br />body which is created by this Code, and for which the members are appointed by City Council. <br /> <br />B. For any appointed body for which this Code or the Code of Virginia sets forth the <br />criteria and/or the procedures for City Council to remove a member, said criteria and/or <br />procedures shall govern. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />C. For any appointed body for which the criteria and/or the procedures for City Council <br />to remove a member are not set forth in this Code or the Code of Virginia, members shall serve <br />at the pleasure of the City Council, and any member may be removed by the City Council at its <br />pleasure. <br /> <br />2. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption, and it shall be <br />effective as to all current City Council appointees to applicable appointed bodies. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on <br />November 8,2005. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />
