R-04-35 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPOINTING JAMES B. OLIVER, JR. AS INTERIM CITY <br />MANAGER. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that City <br />Council, acting pursuant to Section 5.01 of the Portsmouth City Charter, does hereby appoint <br />James B. Oliver, Jr. as Interim City Manager for aterm commencing onthe retirement of City <br />Manager C. W. McCoy and extending for a period of one year thereafter, as set forth in the <br />attached "Interim Employment Agreement," for a salary of $135,000 per year. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor, acting for and on behalf of the City, is <br />authorized to execute said agreement, or one substantially the same, and to bind the City thereby. <br />The Mayor is further authorized to retain C. W. McCoy, after his retirement as City Manager, to <br />serve as a consultant to assist with transition, at his current salary and benefits, for a period not to <br />exceed seventy days. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that any possible renewal or extension of said agreement <br />may be authorized only by duly recorded vote of City Council. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on June <br />16, 2004. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
