AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING A PORTION OF HOOVER STREET, A <br />PORTION OF ARGYLE STREET AND A PORTION OF PEARL STREET. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouttk the School Board of the City of Portsmouth and the <br />Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority have requested the closure of that portion of <br />Hoover Street, a portion of Argyle Street and a portion of Pearl Street, as hereafter described: and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, at a meeting held on July 2, 2002. recommended <br />approval of the closure and vacation of said portion of Hoover Street, a portion of Argyle Street; <br />and a portion of Pearl Street, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS. notice of the proposed closure and vacation has been given the adjoining <br />property owners in accordance with Section 15.2-2006 of the Code of Virginia, as amended. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia that a portion of Hoover Street, a portion of Argyle Street and a portion of Pearl Street <br />be closed and vacated as a public street and right of way as follows: <br /> <br /> HOOVER STREET <br /> <br /> All that portion of Hoover Street (formerly Parker Street) beginning 105' from its <br /> eastern intersection with Elm Avenue eastwardly 150' to the western terminus of <br /> that portion of Parker Street closed by Ordinance dated April 12, 1960. <br /> <br /> ARGYLE STREET <br /> <br /> All that portion of Argyle Street beginning at a point 105' west of the west right of way <br /> line of Pearl Street (formerly Pine Street) wesnvardly 255' to its western terminus as <br /> shown on the Plat of Brighton, duly recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of <br /> the City of Portsmouth in Map Book 1, at page 91, et seq. <br /> <br /> PEARL STREET <br /> <br /> All that portion of Pearl Street (formerly Pine Street) from the north right of way line of <br /> Argyle Street to its southern ;ernmnus on the north right of way line of Portsmouth <br /> Boulevard (formerly Gosport Road). <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED. that the City of Portsmouth hereby reserves an <br />easement in the portions of Hoover Street, Argyle Street and Pearl Street hereby closed and <br />vacated for the installation, operation, maintenance and replacement of public utilities, including <br />gas lines, telephone communication lines, electrical lines and all other utility lines as may be <br />required, all as permitted by the School Board of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia and the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia by written agreement, and also a six foot easement on the south side of <br />Hoover Street shall be retained for Verizon Telephone Company, which said easements may be <br /> <br /> <br />
