a. Unclassified Positions <br /> <br /> Unclassified positions shall consist off <br /> <br /> (1) Officials elected by the citizens and persons appointed to fill <br /> positions within the elective offices. <br /> <br /> (2) The members of boards and commissions, the City Manager, <br /> the City Clerk, the City Attorney, the City Assessor, the City <br /> Registrar and persons appointed by judges of the Circuit Court; <br /> <br /> (3) Persons temporarily employed in a professional scientific <br /> capacity or to conduct a special inquiry, investigation, <br /> examination, or installation, if the Council or the Manager <br /> certifies that such employment is temporary and that employees <br /> in the classified positions should not perform the work. <br /> <br />b. Classified Positions <br /> <br /> Classified positions shall be comprised of all employees, officers, and <br /> positions not specifically designated in the preceding section as <br /> unclassified. <br /> <br />c. Part-time Employment <br /> <br /> A position is defined as part-time when the work schedule is less than <br /> 40 hours per work week, and the funds for payment are identified in <br /> the budget as part-time. <br /> <br /> The hours per work week for an individual employed as a part-tune <br /> are limited to 32. Any additional hours must be approved in advance <br /> by the Director of Human Resource Management and are to be the <br /> exception. Benefits are not available to part-time employees. <br /> <br /> 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
