AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING A PORTION OF COLUMBIA STREET AND A PORTION OF AN UNNAMED ALLEY SOUTH OF COUNTY STREET. WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority. has requested the closure of that portion of Columbia Street and a portion of an unnamed alley south of County Street, as hereafter described: and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, at a meeting held on July 2, 2002. recommended approval of the closure and vacation of said portion of Columbia Street and a portion of an unnamed alley south of County Street; and WHEREAS, notice of the proposed closure and vacation has been given the adjoining property owners in accordance with Section 15.2-2006 of the Code of Virginia, as amended. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth. Virginia that a portion of Columbia Street and a portion of an unnamed alley south of County Street be closed and vacated as a public street and right of way as follows: COLUMBIA STREET All that portion of Columbia Street lying east of Pine Street (now closed) and the west side of the hereafter described "Public Alley", more particularly described as beginning on the north side of Columbia Street at the western terminus of the "Public Alley", thence running S.36°26'50"E. 24.59 feet to the south side of Columbia Strut; thence along the south side of Columbia Street S.87°01'23"W. 106.76 feet to a point; thence turning and running N.03 °31'44'W.20.32 feet; thence N.36° 14'48"E. 15.08 feet to the north side of Columbia Street: thence N.87°01'23"E. along the north side of Columbia Street 103.27 feet to the point of beginning, as shown on survey attached entitled "EXHIBIT SHOWING PORTION OF COLUMBIA STREET TO BE CLOSED AND VACATED FOR WESTBURY. PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA", dated May 21. 2001, made by Horton & Dodd, P.C., Surveyors, Engineers & Planners.
