CITY OF PORTSMOUTH <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY STATEMENT <br /> <br />The City of Portsmouth is committed to decreasing its <br />environmental impact on the community whenever possible by <br />implementing and continuously improving environmental <br />management practices. <br /> <br />Each employee is empowered to be leaders in environmental <br />stewardship through the use of the following principles: <br /> <br /> * Strive to meet or exceed the environmental <br /> standards set by all applicable laws and <br /> regulations <br /> <br /> * Create a proactive environmental team through <br /> initial and continual education and training of all <br /> City employees on environmental issues <br /> <br /> * Use "best practices" to prevent the pollution of our <br /> natural resources <br /> <br /> * Develop and continually improve our <br /> environmental management system to make it a <br /> part of our standard business practice <br /> <br /> * Continually improve environmental practices by <br /> setting and reviewing environmental objectives <br /> and targets <br /> <br /> * Evaluate products, services, and activities to <br /> reduce waste and the consumption of resources <br /> <br /> * Build partnerships with outside agencies to sustain <br /> and enhance our environment <br /> <br />All employees shall assist with the implementation and <br />maintenance of this policy. <br /> <br /> <br />
