R-02-46 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION RELATED TO AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY'S SIGN ORDINANCE <br />FOR THE PURPOSES OF FURTHERING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND <br />PROTECTING NEIGHBORHOOD QUALITY. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City <br />Manager be, and he hereby is, directed to draft amendments to the City's sign ordinance that will <br />reflect current economic, business and advertising practices in the retail industry and that will <br />encourage economic and business development, consistent with the protection of neighborhood <br />quality. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proposed amendments shall be duly advertised, <br />with opportunity for public hearing in the manner required by law, submitted to the Planning <br />Commission for comment and recommendation, and brought back to City Council for official <br />action at the earliest possible date, in accordance with Section 15.2-2286 of the Code of Virginia. <br /> <br /> ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on July <br />30, 2002. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
