This bond is one of a series aggregating Eight Hundred Fifty Thou- snnd Dollars and is issued for the purpose of providing funds for the op~ning~ widen- lng and paving of certain streets, installing storm drains, curbs and gutters, and acquiring and improving for municipal public purposes certain real estate nnd build- in~s in the City of ~ortsmouth, Virginia, uuder and pursuant to and in conformity with the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Virginia, and the Charter of the City of Portsmouth, and pursuant to an ordinance of the Council of the City ef Portsmouth, entitled: "An Ordinance Authorizing The Issuance O~ Eight Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars Of Bonds Of The City Of l~ortsmouth, Virginia, To Be Known As General Improve- merit Bonds, For The Purpose Of Opening, Widening And Paving Certain Streets, Install- lng Storm Drains, Curbs And Gutters And Acquiring And Improving For Mt~nicipal lmublic Purposes Certain Real Estate And Buildings In The Said City, Making Frovision For The Form Of Said Bonds And For The Paymen~ Thereof", adopted November 11, 1958. It is hereby certified and recited that all acts, conditions and things required by the Constitutio~ and Statutes of the State of Virginia, to exist, to have happened, and to be performed precedent to and in the issuance of this bond, exist, have happened and have been performed in due time, form and manner ns required by law, and that the issue of bonds of which this is one, together with all ether in- debtedness of the City, is within the otherwise authorized indebtedness of said City, and is within every debt and ether limit prescribed by the Constitution and laws of the State of Virginia. The luX1 faith and credit of the City of Portsmouth are hereby 2rre- vocahly pledged for the paymen~ of the principal and interest of this bond.
