Section 8-$8. penalties. Any person violating any of the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be nu~ished by s ~ine of not lees than Twenty-five Dollars nor more than Five Hundred Dollars, and such conviction and payment of fine shall not relzeve any such person from the payment of any tax imposed hereunder. Section 2~ (a) This ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after on December 26, 1950~ ~u y 1, 1959; provided, however, that the ordinance adopted shall remain in force and effec~ until that time and any stamp, decalcomania, in- signia, or symbol printed By a me,er machine lawfully evidencing the payment of the ~x imposed thereby upon the sale of cigarettes shall be valid for use in connection with the tax imposed by this ordinance. (b) Should a seller have in his possession, on the effective date of this ordir~ce, any unstampsd or improperly stamped tobacco producZs, or should a seller, after such effective date, obtain or acquire possession of any unstamped or improperly stamped tobacco products, such seller shall forthwith, before selling, offering or exposing such tobacco products for sale in the city, purchase and affix or cause to be affixed to such tobacco products the proper stamps~ or the markings of a meter machine, coverlng the tax imposed by this ordinance, pursuant to regulations promulgated by the director of finance. Section 3. If any parr of this ordinance shall be for any reason adjudged invalid, such invalidity shall nor affect the parts which are no~ adjudged invalid.
