AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 18-318 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, PERTAINING TO THE TAX ON MOTQR VEHICLES, SO AS TO CONFORM TO STATE 'LAW ON THE SUBJECT. -Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Section 18-318 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, V~rginia, 1961, be amended and reordained to read as follows: Section 18-318, Tax on vehicles designed andlused for transportation of paesengers~Schedule~ The annual license tax on motor vehicles~ trailers and semitrailersr designed and used for the transportation of passengers upon the streets of this city shall he as follows: (1) Ten dollarsfor e private motor vehicle other than a motorcycle.with a normal seating capacity of notmore than ten persons, including the driver, if such privateimotor vehicle is not used for zhe transportation of passengers for compensation and is not kept or used for rent or for hire, or is not operated uXlder ~ lease.without a chauffeur. ~ (2) Thirty cents per one hundred pounds of weight or ,i major fraction thereof for s private motor vehiclelother than a motorcycle with a normal seating Capacity of more than ten adult persons including the driver if such privatelmotor vehicle :is not used for the transportation of passengers for compensation is not kept or used for rent or for hire or is~not tinder a lease without ch~auffeur~ (3) .Thirty cents~ per hundred pounds of weight or major fraction thereof for a contract school bus, public or prlvate~ (4) Se~en dollars and fifty cents for a trailer or semi- trailer designed for use as living quarters for human beings, (5) Subject to Section 18-321, eighty cents per hundred pounds of weight or major fraction thereof for each motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer kept or used for rent or for hire or operated under a lease without chauffeur for the transportation of passengers° This subsectiondoes not apply ~o vehicles used
