)INANCE TO AMEND SECTION 18-322 C~7 THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, ¥t~GINIA, 1961, ESTABLISHiNG TAX RATE ON MOTOR VEHICLES, TRAILERS, AND SEMITRAILERS TO BE PAID BY FOR RENT AND FOR HIRE CARRIERS. Be it o~ained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, ~! Virginia, that Section 18-322 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia~ 1961~ be amended and reordained to read as follows: Section 18-322. Tax on vehicles not designed or used for transportation of passengers. EXcept as hereinafter otherwise provided, the license tax to be paid by owners of all motor vehicles, trailers and ,semi- trailers not designed and used for the transportation of p~ssengers shall be determined by ~he gross ~eight of the vehicle or combination of vehicles of which it is a part~ when loaded to the maximum capacity for which it is registered and licensed, according to the schedule herein set forth: For each thousand po~mds of g~oss weight, or ~aJor fraction thereof, for which any such vehicle is registered and licensed ther? shall be paid ~o the city treasurer the tax tndic~t~d in u~n~efollowin~ schedule lm]ediately oppoeite ~he weight grou~ and r ~he classification ~stabllshed by the provisions of s~ction ~48.i-99 (b) of the Code o~ Virginia into which such vehicle, o= any combination of vehicles of which it is a part, falls when loaded t? the m~ximum capacity for which it is registered and , '. licensed; provided, that in no case shall the ~ax he less than twelve dollars..
