AN ORDINANCE TO A~IEND SECTION 34-9 OF THE CODE OF q}tE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTII, VIRGINIA, 1961, PERTAINING TO. TAXICAB FARES. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained 'ay the Council of the City of Portsmouth', <br />Virginia, that Section $4-9 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, <br />.Virginia, 1961, be amended and reordained to. read as follows: <br /> <br />*Sec. 54-9. Fares - Generally. <br /> <br /> No person owning, operating, driving or controlling <br /> a taxicab within the limits of the city shall charge an <br /> amount to exceed the following rates of fare: <br /> <br /> :; For the first one-half mile or fraction <br /> thereof .................................. $ .S0 <br /> For each one-third or fraction thereof in <br /> addition to the first one-half mile ....... 10 <br /> For each piece of baggage other than one <br /> handbag per passenger ..................... 25 <br /> For each package, unless passenger transports <br />· package to and fron~ cab and holds package <br />'~ on lap in transit ......................... 10 <br /> ~ For each foot locker or trunk ............... 50 <br /> For ead~ three minutes of waiting time or <br /> fraction thereof .......................... 10 <br /> <br /> If hired on an hourly basis, the rate'of $5o00 per <br />hour shall apply. <br /> <br /> Waiting time shall include the time when the taxicab <br />is not in motion, beginning with the time of arrival at <br />the place to which it is called but excluding the time <br />consumed by the premature response to calls° No returning <br />charge shall be made where the taxicab was engaged in the <br />city or the Navy Yard and the passenger discharged'in the <br />city or Navy Yard~ <br /> <br /> The rates of fare shall be ,conspicuously posted in <br />each taxicab. <br /> <br /> Charges herein set forth shall be binding upon the <br />owners andoperators and the collection of fares in excess <br />of such rates shall <br /> <br /> <br />
