<br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Zoning Ordinance of
<br />the City of Portsmouth, 1961, be amended by amending
<br />sections 2-1 and 3-16, and subsections (6), (9), (21),
<br />(28), (29), (36), (S2), (74), C79), (8.7), (97), (123),
<br />(1S1}, (t58), (~$9), (141), (148), (tST), (161), [165),
<br />(170), (173), (174), (178), (199), (209)~ (215), (221)~
<br />(222), .(234), (245), and [248), of section 4-3 and by
<br />adding thereto a new section numbered 5-9, such amended
<br />.and new sections to read as follows:

<br />Section 2-1. Districts and Purposes.
<br />
<br /> In order to implement the intent of this ordinance,
<br />the City of Portsmouth is hereby divi~ed into eleven
<br />classes of districts with the designations and general
<br />purposes listed below and the specifically permitted
<br />and prohibited uses tabulated in Article 4.

<br />DISTRICT PURPOSE
<br />
<br />Industrial M-1
<br />District
<br />
<br />Primarily for wholesale activities,
<br />warehouses, and light induszrial
<br />operations: that is, those industrial
<br />opera~ions which are not obnoxious
<br />or offensive by reason or emission
<br />of odor, dust, smoke, fumes, or noise.
<br />
<br />industrial M-2
<br />District
<br />
<br />Primarily for manufacturlng, assembling,
<br />and fabrication activities, including'
<br />large scale or specialized industrial
<br />operazions.
