AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE A PORTION OF CUT OFF AVENUE, REED <br />AVENUE, LAIGH ROAD, NEWBIE AVENUE, AND COPELAND AVENUE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has made application to vacate, <br />close, and discontinue the hereinafter described streets; and <br /> <br /> WHERBAS, by resolution of this council, adopted May 12, 1964, <br />viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15-766 of the Code of Virginia, <br />1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter described streets, and to report <br />in writing whether in their opinion, any, and if any, what inconvenience <br />would result from discontinuing the hereinafter described streets; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that in <br />their opinion no inconvenience would result from closing and discontinuing <br />said streets. <br /> <br /> NOW, TH£RBFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Councii of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that Cut Off Avenue from the southern~line of Ballard <br />Avenue to the northern line of Interstate Route 264; Reed Avenue from a <br />point 100 feet south of the southern line of Ballard Avenue to the northern <br />line of Interstate Route 264; Laigh Road from a point 300 feet south to the <br />southern line of Ballard Avenue to the northern line of Interstate Route 264; <br />Newbie Avenue from the southern line of Batlard Avenue to the northern line <br />of Interstate Route 264; Copeland Avenue from the eastern line of Cut Off <br />Avenue to its eastern terminus at a point approximately 120 feet east of <br />the eastern line of Newbie Avenue be, and the same are hereby closed and <br />vacated as oublic streets. <br /> <br /> This ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the <br />public health, morals and safety, an emergency is declared to exist and <br />it shall be effective from and after its passage. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City gf Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />at a meeting held May ifS, 1964. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
