,7/ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 19-19 OF THE CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF PORTS~OUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, TO MAKE IT UNLAWFUL <br />FOR ~NY PERSON TO OPERATE A DISORDERLY HOUSE FOR ANY <br />OTHER PERSON. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth,' Virginia, that Section 19-19 of the Code of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended e~nd <br />r~ordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 19-19. Disorderly houses <br /> <br /> (1) It shall be unlawful for any person in the <br />c~ty to keep, maintain or operate, for himself, or for any <br />other person, or as an officer of or agent for sm~ corpo- <br />ration, association, club~ lodge or other organization, or <br />under the guise of any corporation, association, club, lodge <br />or other organization, any disorderly house or place of <br />illegally dispensing or indulging in intoxicati~ liquors, <br />gaming, or boisterous or other disorderly conduct. Each <br />day's keeping of any such place shall constitute a separate <br />offense, and in any prosecution for this offense, the <br />general reputation of SUCh place may be proved. <br /> <br /> (2) It shall be unlawful for any person to <br />frequent or visit any such place for the purpose of ille- <br />gally dispensing or indulging in intoxicating liquors, gaming <br />or boisterous or other disorderly conduct. <br /> <br /> This ordinance being necessary for the preservation <br />of the public health, morals and safety, an emergency is <br />declared to exist and it shall take effect from and after its <br />passage, <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held October 27, 1964. <br /> <br />,[: , Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
