Be it ord~ined by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir~uia, that Onapter 1! of the Code of the: City of Portsmouth, Vir~2nia, 1961, be a~ended by amending Article III thereof, and by~ adding thereunto a ~ew article nt~mbered t~f, such amended and new ar- ticle to read as follows: tec~ 11-19. Adoption. Fursu~nt to Code of Virginia, Section 27-5,1, there is here- by adopted by t~ City Cot~n6ii for the ~p~se of prescribing regu- lations governi~ conditions hazardous ~o life ~nd property fr~m fire or explosion, tk~t cert~m code kno%~n as the Fire Preventior~ Code~ reco~nded by the American Insurance Association being particularly ~he 1965 Edition thereof, and the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended~ and the same is ,hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date on v~ich t~is orSinance shall t~e effect, the provisions thereof sh~]] be controlling within the limits of the city; provided~ that: Il) ~fnere the word "muuicip~]i.ty" is used in the Fire Pre- vention Code, 1965 Edition, hereby adopted, it shall be held to mean the City of Portmnouth. (2) Article 13 of said Fire Prevention Code, 1965~Edition, is hereby deleted in its entirety.
