Be it ordained by the Co,~nc_l o,_ the City of <br />Portsmouth Virginia: <br /> <br />1. Tnat tb~Code of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia~ <br />1961, be amended by adding therevo a Nsw section <br />ntmbered 38-6.1, such_new section to read as £ollows: <br /> <br />Sec. 38-6.1. .Carrying loaded firearm.s. <br /> <br /> It sb~tl be mnla'~?~l for any person to carr~ any <br />loaded firearm J~n~ny public p!ace, except on legally <br />open h~ting grounds ~d at authorized target shoot- <br />lng r~m~es. Upon a cos. viction of a violation of ~his <br />section, any such firearm, together with the ~waunition <br />in~ended for use t~re~ith, may~ in the descretion of <br />the courv trying the case, be forfeited vo the city <br />by or{er duly entered, ~n~ may be seized by ~n officer <br />as forfeited, and such as m~y be needed for police <br />officers and conservation of the peace shall be devoted <br />to that purpose, and tlne remainder shall be destroyed <br />by the officer having them~c~h~rge. <br /> <br /> ~ais section sha]~ not ~ply to any police officers, <br />sargeants, sheriffs, conse~¢a~ors of the peace other. <br />t~notaries public, or to carriers of Ur~ted States <br />m~il, or to mny collect~ag officer wb~le in the dis- <br />charge of b~s official duty, or ~o amy person permitted <br />by court order to car~y a concealed weapon. <br /> <br /> <br />
